Essaouira – the blue and white city
From
Duration
Overview
(340 km)
We start at a time of your choice, with a recommended departure between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.
The first 50 km take us along the rugged and romantic coast until we reach the large banana plantations in Tamri. From there, we leave the coastal road and continue into the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll see goats climbing argan trees, and after a scenic drive with breathtaking views, we arrive in Essaouira after approximately 2.5 hours.
Essaouira is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cars are not allowed in the old town, so we explore on foot, wandering through the winding alleys and admiring the typical white houses with blue doors and window frames. We visit the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), the Berber market, small artisan shops, and enjoy magnificent views of the Atlantic from the city walls.
We finish the tour with a stroll through the small fishing harbor, concluding our walk after about 2.5 hours. Lunch is served in a seaside restaurant before we drive back to Agadir.
